Keywords: parallel programming, programming environments

Abstract
The paper presents the parallel programming language TIMP and the implementation of an environment for the development of TIMP programs. The programming language integrates both task and data parallelism. Besides allowingprogram development and execution, the environment also delivers estimations of potential performances of the program. The designed system is based on a virtual vector/parallel machine.
