Effect of Emerging Virtual Technologies on Higher Education Courses

Abstract
Application of virtual technologies is widely considered both as topic area at teaching of engineering and as methodology for the development of advanced computer system based teaching and learning courses in higher education. Because engineering activities are moving into virtual, application of similar methodology in teaching of engineers seems a logical tend. This paper is a discussion on some possible elementary solutions for computer description of teaching and learning processes and objects. It starts with an initial introduction of virtual classroom environment considering recent demands from the practice. Following this, classroom modeling is outlined considering functions, entities, and programs. Next, course modeling procedures are grouped and characterized and importance of adequate constraining is emphasized. Finally structure and implementation of course model are discussed considering course structure that is suitable for any entity necessary for the description of present and appreciated future courses to be accommodated.
