Abstract
The paper presents aspects concerning the development and experimentation of control systems for plants with slow responses with focus on teaching. The categories of plants considered are first-and second-order plus dead time processes. The experiments can be done using laboratory equipment dedicated to the study of control systems with 1-DOF controllers. Linear and sliding mode control algorithms are analyzed.
